The Powertrain Mount Design Release Engineer (DRE) is responsible for the Powertrain mounts – Genset and RDM mount. The Powertrain Mount Design Release Engineer will report to the Supervisor, Powertrain Hardware. The Powertrain Mount Design Release Engineer may support special project needs outside this scope to meet company objectives as required.  



Responsibilities

PT mount Design and Release Engineer (DRE) to conduct typical design and release functions associated with the Gen-Set and RDM mount system (isolators and mount brackets).  The DRE will be responsible for the following:

  • Development of Gen-Set and RDM mount system technical specification and design direction
  • Supporting technical aspects of supplier sourcing
  • Meeting all Gen-set and RDM mount system technical specifications and timing milestones
  • Interacting with:
    • All suppliers - Mount suppliers, NVH
    • All Karma design/development functions – Vehicle integration, Powertrain Electrical, Powertrain system, PT software group, and Chassis
  • Coordination of mount system (isolators and brackets) DFMEA.  Primary input for the isolator DFMEAs is expected to be provided by the isolator supplier.  Karma engineers will participate in the mount bracket DFMEA generation.
  • Development / completion of mount system DVPR including ensuring that supplier component validation is achieved
  • Maintain and update DVP&R and DFMEA for the integrated parts. Responsible for providing the prototype parts to support system level testing. Plan, support and conduct tests as required.
  • Work with Vehicle Integration team to support the vehicle packaging development.
  • Manage the assigned the budget.
  • Create Purchase Requisitions and other engineering administrative tasks as required to support engineering activity.
  • Support certification, safety, and vehicle integration groups.
  • Work closely with plant personnel’s and support build issues as required.
  • Ensure production deviations are completed as required to support build requirements.
  • Work closely with SQA Team supporting APQP and PPAP process.
  • Ensure that CRs are in place for responsible components/modules and BOM has been updated with all necessary documents.
  • Ensure that all MRD dates are met, delivering high quality modules in line with program timing.


Qualifications

  • S. in Mechanical Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Electrical)
  • S. in Mechanical Engineering (desired)
  • Working knowledge of relevant standards (SAE, ASME, and ISO).
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience for on-road automotive applications
  • NVH Vehicle Development testing experience 5+ years experiences.
  • NVH Instrumentation Experience
  • Help establish technical specifications and targets from vehicle level targets
  • Understanding of NVH analysis methods
  • Experience in Isolator and bracket design and development.
  • Proficient in using a 3D computer Aided Design System ( Catia V5, solifworks, Solide Edge, Auto CAD or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software such as Smarteam is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
