The CAE Thermal Engineer’s responsibilities will include performing thermal simulation of the Karma vehicles and components using 3-D CFD and 1-D thermal analysis to



Responsibilities

  • Prepare, run, and post-process CFD modeling of high temperature and low temperature cooling systems.
  • Model HVAC and battery cooling systems for electric and hybrid vehicles.
  • Create accurate 3-D thermal models, use meshing and CAD tools.
  • Create 1-D thermal fluid models for powertrain and HVAC systems
  • Use test data and analytic calculations to correlate thermal models.
  • Assist with vehicle road and wind tunnel testing as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret results and communicate to design and development teams to improve performance.
  • Prepare detailed technical presentations for management review.
  • Stay abreast of latest CAE/CFD simulation tools, methods and processes in the field of thermal and aerothermal analysis.
  • Provide strong communication and teamwork skills.


Qualifications

  • 4+ years experiences in CAE Thermal Analysis in an automotive, industrial or consulting setting working on multiple projects/platforms;
  • MS or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering;
  • CAE analysis experience with a major OEM on production intent development programs;
  • Specific expertise in automotive thermal systems;
  • CAE technologies/tools experience using ANSYS and/or GT-Suite;
  • Solid understanding of thermodynamics, conduction, convection, and radiative heat transfer analysis;
  • CATIA experience helpful;
  • Automotive testing experience helpful
