Manage the Battery & Cabin HVAC thermal engineering team for Plug-In Hybrid vehicle systems.  Develops systems and components to ensure they are compliant with vehicle and subsystem technical specifications and requirements.  Supervises engineering core activities for systems, hardware, controls and software development/validation.


  • Manage all thermal systems core activities, Engineers and Technical Specialist to set and meet deliverables such as piece price, tooling, test budget and timing.
  • Advise management on strategic technical issues.
  • Lead and maintain related Vehicle Technical Specifications and Subsystems Technical Specifications to ensure they’re consistent with high quality, best value and program total cost.
  • Advises executive management regarding applicable thermal FMVSS and assures the vehicle programs meet all regulations.
  • Lead corporate decision making for all vehicle related HVAC and/or thermal protection requirements.
  • Guide subordinates to conduct objective and subjective testing, data reduction, necessary CAE and correlation to vehicle results.
  • Develops, proposes and negotiates contingency plans in order to address quality issues and mitigate risk.
  • Build cooperative relationships with engineering service and component suppliers for the best development support.
  • Maintain a technology roadmap and accesses technology for future applications and improvements. Assure new technology is implementation ready.
  • Maintain the lessons learned database for thermal systems attribute and assures past problems are not repeated.
  • Manage HVAC Controls development to determine best system architecture, controls algorithms, software and calibration changes.
  • Assist vehicle program team to develop alternatives and recommends future improvements to existing systems and assists in the development of future architectures and functionality rollout plans



  • Undergraduate bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree. Masters degree preferred.
  • 10 - 15 years of related responsibility, preferably with OEM vehicle hybrid thermal architectures, control and testing.
  • Working knowledge of best practices and methods for vehicle thermal systems.
  • Experience leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Able to develop win-win situations among other engineering departments and Manufacturing.
