The Infrastructure Engineer will help Karma transform its core infrastructure and workplace services into 21st century solutions.

** This position will work out of our Irvine,  CA corporate office. **



Responsibilities

While this is not a generalist role, the best candidate will have a cross-functional core competencies:

Server Huggers are great. We have some genius server huggers on our team – we are looking for a recovering/recovered server hugger who understands and has demonstrated success on teams responsible for moving an organization to a cloud-based computing model (AWS, Azure) in addition to supporting high performance, traditional on-prem infrastructures.

The individual picked to join the Karma IT team will have extensive and deep hands-on experience in: 

  • System design, automation, deployments and testing of infrastructure and middleware.
  • Assessment and implementation of monitoring and response plans
  • Alerting and logging
  • Automation of system builds.
  • Testing and validation of environment stability

You will work on project teams as well as internal operations teams on various projects including server builds, audits, third party software installation and tuning, vendor evaluation, data integrity, capacity management, security, and performance. You will ensure that system hardware, operating systems, middleware and software meet and adhere to internal organizational standards.

The successful candidate will participate in technical research and development to enable continued innovation within the internal infrastructure. This position requires knowledge in a number of technical areas as well as the ability to solve real time production problems quickly in a high pressure environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring high-availability applications are working properly on large, global network.
  • Troubleshooting application & configuration on Windows/Linux
  • Automate infrastructure and middleware configuration and deployment. 
  • Windows System Administration:Win2012/2008 Server Configuration, Hardening and Support, Active Directory/Certificate Authority. Office 365 native environment management.
  • Linux Server Configuration, Hardening and Support 
  • Working to tune internal and third party applications as well securing all sensitive data and systems. 
  • Develop and Execute on migration projects for both Infrastructure and Application platforms with a customer-facing persepective


Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or similar discipline required and/ or equivalent years of technical experience
  • 5 years working in Systems Administration and/or DevOps role
  • 3 years scripting (PowerShell, Shell, Python, etc)
  • Prior experience in deploying/supporting AWS products (S3, EC2, EBS, RDS, Docker, Cloudwatch, Cloudtrails, etc.)
  • Experience with Windows and Linux-based operating system configuration, automation and management
  • Experience with monitoring and analytical tools (Splunk, SolarWinds, Nessus)
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting application servers
  • Experience with systems architecture and systems administration
  • Experience with automation and provisioning tools (Chef/Puppet)
  • Experience working with various SDLC groups (Development, QA, Configuration Management) on project work as well as solving real time production system issues
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery and data replication techniques
  • Familiarity with IT audit activities as well as day to day security functions
  • Familiarity with networking equipment (load balancing/firewalls)
  • Understand how Office 365 tenants, SharePoint online, and exchange online work.
