The Summer Intern, Powertrain - Hybrid Control Unit Systems, will work closely with Powertrain control system engineers in developing specific requirements, documentation, and testing methods to develop world-class electrified vehicles. This position will have multiple responsibilities, one of which may include a project with end-term deliverable (to be determined by hiring manager) such as final report and/or presentation.



Responsibilities

The areas of responsibility expected for this role include:

  • Assist in translation of powertrain and vehicle requirements to control system requirements and algorithm to achieve program targets.
  • Efficiently author documentation (software requirements/algorithms) from existing Matlab/Simulink models and ALM tools.
  • Utilize issue tracking tool (JIRA) to log software defects and manage day-to-day issue resolution plans.
  • Wok with other engineering departments to define compatible supporting powertrain-specific requirements.
  • Develop powertrain testing plans and test cases using Polarion for Vehicle-level and Component-level Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test requirements.
  • Support on-road functional testing for HCU and powertrain feature development, new hardware introduction, and software release validation.
  • Use software tools to track status, develop meeting documentation, and test reports for leadership communication and decisions.
  • Manage schedule updates for program and vehicle development requirements.
  • Analyze vehicle data using vehicle network (CAN) tools.
  • Create reports which address customer feedback, cross-functional engineering support as required.
  • Use engineering principles to develop proposals for process improvements, tool development, and knowledge capture and retention.


Qualifications

  • BS or MS educational track in Mechanical, Electrical or related-discipline Engineering curriculum.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Sense of urgency and strong attention to detail.

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Experience with Matlab / Simulink

  • Fundamental understanding of automobiles, especially electric and hybrid electric vehicles.
