The Cost Manager will be the finance lead for the enterprise-wide effort to drive cost efficiencies.  This position will work with functional managers and cross functional teams to identify areas for potential cost efficiencies, quantify the costs and benefits of these projects, and measure the results for each project.  In addition, this position will work with program managers, engineering and procurement to prepare financial analysis for cost reduction initiatives for the vehicle programs.  The Cost Manager will also be responsible for summarizing the overall results of the cost reduction program and reporting to company leadership. 

The Cost Manager will provide op ex, cap ex, and headcount budget support for cost center heads for assigned cost centers.  This role will also  support vehicle program gate reviews and financial forecasts by preparing program P&L and other financial metrics and analysis.  This position involves a high level of independent judgment, initiative, creativity, and drive. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, financial modeling and program management aptitude.



Responsibilities

  • Work with CC managers and consultants to identify cost efficiencies, support cost reduction projects with financial analysis, and summarize status of projects.
  • Work with program managers, engineering and procurement to prepare financial analysis for cost reduction initiatives; summarize status for program management (program managers will be responsible for maintaining details)
  • C2 Finance support for assigned CCs (starting with Powertrain) including :
    • partnering with CC heads and their teams to prepare budgets; obtain understanding of budget details and how the proposed expenditures align with business objectives
    • reviewing PR requests and confirming they are consistent with budget and are properly coded prior to approval
    • assist the CC heads in managing their budgets, working with them to mitigate overages by identifying offsets
    • work with program manager, engineering and procurement to prepare K1 2.0 ETC analysis, ensuring program-to-date actual spend and commitments are identified and remaining forecasts are supported by detailed estimates of business requirements by part
  • Partner with the Product Team leadership to establish vehicle program financial KPIs (e.g. Program P&L).  Measure and report progress vs KPI targets.  Support vehicle program gate reviews by preparing program P&L and other financial metrics and analysis.
  • Provide oversight of Karma vehicle program sourcing decisions.  Develop appropriate evaluation methodology/criteria for supply chain sourcing decisions and business case reviews including use of competitive benchmarking.  Performs detail reveiw and approval of competitive bids before submission to program sourcing decision executive team.  Prepare financial analysis for business cases, ensuring make versus buy, strategic sourcing, and other proposed development project alternatives meet required financial measures (cash flow, payback, NPV, IRR, etc.).


Qualifications

  •  Bachelor's Degree in Finance / Accounting - MBA a plus
  • 7-10 years in automotive industry or complex product development environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills.  Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional team environment and partner with managers/senior leaders across the organization.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, able to create and present information to leadership and customers in a clear and concise manner
  • High degree of organizational agility, able to handle sensitive issues with prudent discretion across all levels of the organization
  • Committment to delivering quality results and overcomig obstacles and challenges in a time-sensitive environment
